We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to join our small, close-knit team in Lake Zurich. You’ll work closely with Rhonda (remote) and our Office Administrator, supporting accounting operations and occasionally assisting with general office needs.
For the first six months, you’ll take ownership of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. Over time, you’ll expand into journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, job costing, and financial reporting/analysis.
Manage the full accounts payable cycle: coding invoices, matching POs, obtaining approvals, and processing payments.
Oversee accounts receivable billing, monitor aging reports, and handle collection efforts.
Coordinate with project management and engineering to ensure milestone-based billing is accurate and timely.
Support monthly job closeouts, WIP reviews, and preparation of job costing reports.
Assist with inventory counts and adjustments in the accounting system.
Contribute to month-end close activities and identify opportunities for process improvement or automation.
Serve as backup for light administrative tasks or phone coverage as needed (approx. 5% of role).
Must-Have:
4–5 years of accounting experience, specifically in AP and AR
Working knowledge of accounting or ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft NAV preferred)
Strong initiative and communication skills with the ability to follow up on outstanding payments
Preferred:
Experience in manufacturing or job costing environments
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (not required)
Familiarity with inventory management and reconciliation
