Job Description

Overview:
Tinker Air Force Base is seeking a professional and experienced air show announcer to provide engaging narration and event coordination for the 2025 Air Show. This role requires exceptional communication skills, event management expertise, and the ability to enhance the spectator experience through live commentary, safety announcements, and coordination with event staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Narration:

   • Deliver professional and engaging commentary during rehearsals and live performances.
   • Highlight event sponsors, activities, and concessions as directed by event organizers.
   • Provide live updates and safety information to manage crowd control during emergencies or incidents.

2. Coordination:

   • Collaborate with airfield management, emergency services, and performance teams to ensure smooth execution of the event.
   • Work with DOD demonstration team narrators (e.g., Thunderbirds, Blue Angels) to provide seamless transitions and enhance the crowd experience.
   • Participate in daily safety and flight sequence briefings.

3. Equipment Management:

   • Supply and operate professional audio equipment, including music playback and VHF/UHF communication tools for live cockpit retransmissions.
   • Ensure proper integration of provided audio systems with event infrastructure.

4. Preparation:

   • Review flight schedules and aircraft details to prepare narration.
   • Coordinate event introductions and special performances (e.g., National Anthem).

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 25 complex air shows announced, including DOD-sanctioned demonstration team events.
• Proven experience handling large crowds (100,000+ spectators) and managing safety communications during emergencies.
• Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration Order 8900.1 standards for complex air shows.
• Strong technical expertise in audio equipment and live broadcasting.
• Excellent public speaking and crowd engagement skills.

Logistics & Compensation:

• Lodging and transportation (rental car) provided by Tinker AFB from June 26-29, 2025.
• Payment is a firm fixed price upon completion of services.
