The Fess Parker Winery is currently seeking a Full-Time Assistant Winemaker.

Established in 1989, Fess Parker Winery is a multi-generational family owned and operated winery that has a rich heritage in Santa Barbara County. Fess Parker produces premium, small-lot, vineyard designated Burgundian varietals from the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley as well as Rhône varietals from their SIP Certified, organically farmed estate vineyard. The Fess Parker Family Portfolio of wines also includes Epiphany, Fesstivity and Addendum.

Position: Assistant Winemaker
Reports to: Head Winemaker
Salary: $80,000 annual

Roles & Responsibilities:
•  Assist Head Winemaker
o Assist with issuing and writing of work orders (InnoVint)
o Become proficient with InnoVint, understand the system, provide reports
o Assist with management of cellar staff including: monitoring attendance, employee relations and moral
o Assist with quality control
o Assist with grading, blending and benchmark tasting on all Fess Parker Winery products
•  Ensure the effective operational management of the cellar, bottling and laboratory
o Coordinate timely and appropriate lab analysis
o Liaise with WM and Production Manager on bottling calendar, bottling supplies and staffing
o Monitor QC of laboratory and bottling with Enologist and Bottling Supervisor
o Develop and manage processes that ensure accuracy in cellar operations (including additions).
o Review and taste check after every lab/cellar operation
•  Production Team Support
o Communicate relevant information to staff
o Recruit, lead and motivate individuals/team ensuring flow of communication and feed back from staff
o Recognize and reward individual/team achievements
•  Production Areas and Equipment Maintenance
o Liaise with maintenance personnel and Cellar Master for repairs/maintenance/staff requirements
o Provide input into potential winery upgrades in conjunction with the winemaker
•  MISC
o Any other special projects
