Job Description

The Diocese of Tulsa is looking to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer. The CFO is responsible for the fiscal operations of the Chancery and its affiliate organizations. Working alongside the Vicar General, the Bishop, and the Curia as a member of the core leadership team, the CFO aids in implementing the vision of the Bishop for the Diocese of Tulsa. This role is considered to be an ecclesiastical officer position with duties articulated in canon law. The CFO performs his/her duties with a spirit of servant-leadership and helps ensure the Chancery is a central support structure for parishes and Catholic institutions throughout the diocese. Essential Job Responsibilities CFO Duties:

• Articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function.
• Demonstrate a commitment to Catholic virtues and the promotion of a positive culture at the Chancery.
• Demonstrate leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
• Supervise the finance department staff in all matters.
• Coordinate the development and monitoring of Chancery budgets.
• Develop financial business plans and forecasts.
• Report on monthly and annual budgets and provide status updates and progress reports to the Diocesan Finance Council.
• Engage the various financial boards to develop short, medium, and long-term plans.
• Coordinate all financial audits and proper filing of tax returns.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
• Participate and engage in Diocesan issues as a member of the Curia.
• Consult with the Chancellor on pertinent legal issues.
• Work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer to ensure accurate reporting of fundraising totals and the creation of an Annual Report for donors.
• Execute all other duties assigned by the Vicar General or Bishop.

Accounting Duties:

• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
• Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
• Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
• Remain up to date on nonprofit audit practices and state and federal law regulations.
• Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
• Oversee the preparation and communication of financial statements as requested.
• Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll via a third-party payroll service.
• Responsible for year-end tax compliance and reporting for payroll and finance.
• Manage respective accounting services under the various Shared Services Agreements for the Diocese.
• Provide financial services for the diocesan self-insurance fund.

Key Skills:

• Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to create detailed financial reports for planning and analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Independent self-starter who can work well with colleagues and volunteers.
• Proficient in PC or Mac; including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and budgeting software.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and canon law regarding financial management.

Educational and Experience Requirements: • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or a licensed CPA. Equivalent experience may be acceptable. Previous management experience in an accounting or finance department is required. Physical Requirements: Employees should be able to meet the physical and mental demands of all the aforesaid key tasks, skills, and attributes. Such requirements include, but are not limited to, the frequent lifting or moving of up to ten (10) pounds and the occasional lifting or moving of up to twenty-five (25) pounds; frequent sitting and the occasional demands of driving long distances.
