Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins? focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine?strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and patients.


Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 2-3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team?s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.


The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS) seeks a Development Coordinator to join our team in achieving our fundraising objectives. The Development Coordinator is an integral member of the School?s External Affairs team in our effort to secure philanthropic support for the Krieger School to pursue its mission of education, research, and discovery. Our team is dedicated to connecting the passions of our donors to the needs of the school to realize our mission.


The Development Coordinator provides high-level development and administrative support to 1 - Senior Associate Director of Development and 1 ? Associate Director of Development in the Office of External Affairs at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. This position plays a key role in the production of development reports, drafting donor bios and briefings, and portfolio management as well as calendar and travel management.


Key responsibilities: 

Portfolio Management/Reporting:

  • Enter proposals and solicitations and ensure they are connected to the workplan within the CRM (JHAS). When reviewing the weekly gift log, ensure gifts are linked to the respective proposal and update proposal as needed.
  • Maintain a knowledge of the Senior Associate Director of Development and the Associate Director of Development planned solicitations in order to help prepare necessary reports and update proposals in JHAS.
  • Enter contact reports and link to workplan and/or proposal to ensure gift officers fundraising efforts are accurately reflected in JHAS.
  • Preparing monthly portfolio reports for the Senior Associate Director of Development and the Associate Director of Development to review most recent contact reports as well as compare the information to what is included on the monthly President?s memo.
  • Tracking the giving for the Second Decade Society board members as well as updating their constituent records with current address and employment information in JHAS.
  • Identify and utilize the appropriate template reports created in JHAS based on gift officers requests and work with the Senior Development Coordinator, the Assistant Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics or Advancement Services representatives for more complicated requests.
  • Submitting donor research reports from Advancement Services as needed.

Calendaring/Travel Arrangements:

  • Maintain conflict-free electronic calendar for both the Senior Associate Director of Development and the Associate Director of Development which may include arranging complicated meetings with deans, department chairs, faculty, staff, donors and prospects. This may include reserving rooms, ordering catering, and requesting audio/visual equipment.
  • Proactively manage tasks, prospects, and priorities for the Senior Associate Director of Development and the Associate Director of Development to properly prepare for upcoming meetings, visits, and events, including making travel arrangements and providing background information on donors/prospects using information generated from JHAS and independent research.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Director of Development and the Associate Director of Development to prepare briefings for donor visits and gift-officer driven events using resources such as JHAS and internet-based research.
  • Track and submit travel receipts associated with the Executive/Corporate Cards to be submitted in Concur and process personal reimbursements for JHU business expenses.

Correspondence:

  • Draft letters and memoranda, prepare final edits, and mail or distribute to appropriate individuals, both internally and externally.
  • Perform mail merge projects from standard letters and correspondence.

Other:

  • Assist with the Second Decade Society Board meeting prep as needed throughout the year.
  • Function as a part of the administrative team as needed for larger group projects and assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • On an infrequent basis, the candidate may be asked to work on nights and/or weekends to support office events and other time-sensitive initiatives.




Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Two years related administrative experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree preferred.
  • CRM knowledge, preferably Salesforce.
  • Microsoft Office and moderate to strong Word and Excel proficiency.
  • Candidate must be proactive and effective when working independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be capable of maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Must adapt and be able to work in a complex, multi-divisional organization and a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to take part in more than one project simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills required. Candidate must be able to create original correspondence, such as letters, memos, reports, and briefings.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external contacts such as donors and alumni.
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills are required
  • Must be service-oriented, discrete and behave ethically at all times.
  • Must live within commuting distance to the Baltimore campus and able to work on-campus 2+ days per week and remotely the balance of the time.
