Title: Director of Operations

Organization: Christian Home Educators of Colorado (CHEC)

Location: Elizabeth, CO (Remote work allowed up to 4 days/week. Min.1 day/week required in Elizabeth office)

Since 1990, Christian Home Educators of Colorado (CHEC) has served a vital role in building and fostering a thriving Christian homeschooling community across the state of Colorado. CHEC provides parents with the support, training, resources, and vision they need to educate and disciple their children toward Christ through homeschooling. CHEC is committed to defending homeschool freedom and helping parent’s homeschool with confidence to the glory of God.

Position Overview:

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Christian Home Educators of Colorado, with a special focus on developing and growing the CHEC Independent School, overseeing all CHEC events (excluding the annual conference), and ensuring the efficient functioning of the organization's data and internal communication systems. This role requires a strong leader who can integrate operational excellence with CHEC’s mission in order to deliver a seamless, supportive, and valuable customer experience for homeschool families!

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Collaboration:

● Provide day-to-day leadership and management to ensure the organization achieves its objectives in alignment with CHEC’s mission and values.

● Work in close collaboration with other directors and department heads to drive cross-departmental initiatives and long-term strategy.

● Foster a positive, Christ-centered work environment, encouraging teamwork, open communication, and professional growth among staff and volunteers.

2. CHEC Independent School:

● Oversee the operations and administration of the CHEC Independent School with an emphasis toward developing additional ways to provide value to homeschool families through the CHEC Independent School.

● Ensure that the CHEC Independent School maintains high standards of support for homeschooling families, providing resources and guidance as needed.

● Supervise and manage staff involved in the Independent School operations.

3. CHEC Events:

● Develop and oversee event teams who will execute all CHEC events (excluding the annual conference).

● Set overall event objectives, assess their effectiveness, and maintain alignment with CHEC's vision and mission.

● Collaborate with the event teams to ensure a high-quality experience for attendees.

● Provide oversight of budgets, timelines, and logistical details to ensure that events are sustainable and impactful.

● Approve and oversee key partnerships with volunteers, speakers, and sponsors, maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.

4. Data and Internal Communication Systems:

● Oversee the implementation and maintenance of all internal communication systems, ensuring streamlined and effective collaboration across departments.

● Manage organizational databases and ensure accurate and up-to-date records, including constituency contact information, event registrations, donor contributions, and CHEC Independent School records.

● Work closely with IT personnel and vendors to optimize technology systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

● Strong commitment to Christian values and to CHEC’s vision and mission, including a passion for supporting homeschool families and promoting family discipleship.

● Familiarity with homeschooling, particularly within a Christian context, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of homeschooling families, including educational, legal, and spiritual support. You must also have a homeschool background yourself.

● 5+ years of experience in operational leadership, ideally within a nonprofit, educational, or ministry setting.

● An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership, initiative, and adaptability; able to work independently and in a team, handle objections, and actively pursue new ideas in order to achieve optimal outcomes.

● Experience working in a senior leadership role, contributing to long-term organizational strategy and translating vision into operational plans and initiatives.

● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously, ensuring high-quality execution.

● Experience managing staff and volunteers, with excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.

● Ability to adapt to changing needs, make quick decisions, and maintain a solution-oriented approach.

● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

● Strong understanding of data management and internal communication systems, with the ability to implement and oversee these processes effectively.

Work Hours & Benefits:

This is a full-time position, with a flexible, work-from-home schedule. Salary will be 90K-130K based on experience. Mission-driven organization and values-based cultur e.
