Job Description

Arcosa Lightweight is searching for an Environmental Engineer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. In this role you will support a positive safety culture within the Lightweight Aggregate operations that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. The Environmental Engineer will coordinate, direct and maintain all environmental systems with a heavy focus on Title V Air to ensure continued compliance with Corporate and Governmental standards. This position develops and implements programs to prevent and solve environmental problems and works in close conjunction with the plant operations teams.

Arcosa Lightweight is a leading producer and distributor in the Western and Southwestern U.S. of expanded shale and clay lightweight aggregate.

What You'll Do:
  • Works safely at all times and contributes to the establishment of a positive Safety culture by participating in ARC100 Defined Activities; adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Through interaction with plant leadership and operations teams, provide oversight and direction for day-to-day compliance with applicable air , wastewater, water and storm water permits, plans, regulations.
  • Coordinate the reporting and record keeping activities for facility permits and other environmental regulatory reporting requirements and corporate sustainability data tracking requirements.
  • Oversee the development of findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to mitigate environmental hazards across various environmental media, including but not limited to, air emissions, water pollution control, hazardous materials management, and solid waste management, etc.
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare related reports and studies for submission to local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and implement environmental compliance programs to ensure environment regulatory obligations are fulfilled in a cost-effective manner and that environmental risks are effectively managed.
  • Build strong working relationships in order to support the adherence to environmental initiatives.
  • Oversee the development of findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to mitigate environmental hazards across various environmental media, including but not limited to, air emissions, water pollution control, hazardous materials management, and solid waste management, etc.
  • Perform technical analysis of process data as related to air and water emissions.
  • Apply for original permits and maintains a schedule for renewals, reporting, and provisions of all required environmentally related permits.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate emergency response to release events as necessary.
  • Interpret environmental laws and permit requirements, stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape and analyze the various options for complying with new regulations and permit requirements.
  • Develop and deliver environmental compliance-related training sessions.
  • Build strong working relationships in order to support the adherence to environmental initiatives
  • Perform technical analysis of process data as related to air and water emissions with a heavy emphasis on Title V Air compliance.
  • Apply for original permits and maintain a schedule for renewals, reporting, and provisions of all required environmentally related permits.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate emergency response to release events as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver environmental compliance-related training sessions
  • Travel 50% required to support the lightweight aggregate operations in eight (8) states.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


What You'll Need:

  • 4+ years' experience in industrial manufacturing facility with Title V Air Operating Permits, required .
  • Expert working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations with regard to Air Quality, Wastewater, Storm Water, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills that uncover contributors to environmental compliance-related variances and development of solutions to address those risks
  • Strong computer skills including data management and presentation and experience in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing and able to communicate with multiple levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of training methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to use regulatory database systems for required reports.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Environmental Science with an emphasis in managing air compliance.
  • Strong regulatory experience with MSHA/OSHA
