Job Title: Forklift Driver

Schedule: 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: $17/hour

Benefits through FSS Staffing: Medical and Dental, AD&D

Job Overview:

As a Forklift Operator at our aluminum can 3PL facility, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials, including aluminum cans, within the warehouse. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, storing, and organizing materials using various types of forklifts. This position requires strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Forklift Operation: Operate sit-down, stand-up, or reach forklifts to load and unload aluminum cans from trucks, containers, and warehouse racking systems. Ensure proper handling and placement of goods to prevent damage.
• Material Handling: Transport aluminum cans to designated areas in the warehouse or shipping/receiving docks. Assist with staging and organizing products for shipment.
• Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory by scanning and recording the movement of materials. Notify supervisors of any discrepancies in stock levels or damaged goods.
• Order Fulfillment: Pick and prepare aluminum can orders according to customer specifications, ensuring accurate order assembly and packaging for shipment.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all company safety procedures and policies, including the proper operation of forklifts and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Report any safety hazards or forklift malfunctions immediately to the supervisor.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues or mechanical problems to the maintenance department.
• Warehouse Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work area. Ensure that aisles and workspaces are clear of obstructions and that materials are properly stored to minimize the risk of accidents.

Safety and Compliance Requirements:

• Forklift Certification: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid forklift operator certification (either from the company or an external provider).
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Must wear appropriate PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, hard hats, and high-visibility vests, as required by safety protocols.
• Safe Operation: Ensure the safe operation of forklifts at all times. Adhere to speed limits, traffic flow rules, and safety signage within the warehouse.
• Safety Reporting: Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately to a supervisor and complete any required documentation.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, including bending, reaching, and lifting materials manually when necessary.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, including cooler or refrigerated areas, depending on the specific needs of the facility.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first day of employment.
• Knowledge of warehouse safety protocols and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Basic math skills for inventory control and order fulfillment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently and accurately.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
