Job Description



DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented systems thinker who enjoys understanding the root causes of problems and collaborating with others to find cost-effective solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for the compilation and analysis of GIS/GPS data, including interpreting maps, entering GPS data into the GIS database, and using automated software to generate maps and reports.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS analysis, troubleshooting, and providing customer support. You will need to understand the customer’s challenges, research viable solutions, collaborate with peers to ensure integration with broader data systems, and, once a solution is agreed upon, deliver it and provide training to the customer.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage GPS data from remote devices.
  • Compile geographic information, including satellite imagery, surveys, and aerial photos.
  • Verify and research geographic data for accuracy.
  • Input new data into the GIS database.
  • Create maps using advanced GIS software.
  • Ensure maps are properly annotated and contain accurate data.
  • Prepare reports utilizing available GIS and GPS data.
  • Maintain the GIS database and address data-related issues.
  • Perform complex data analysis to support project needs.

Qualifications



Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

Key Competencies:

  • Experience Level: Entry-level (1–4 years preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent mathematical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in GIS and GPS principles
  • Expertise in mapping and scientific research
  • Familiarity with GIS software and tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in GIS and GPS systems
