Intern-Staff Accountant Office Locations: 303 Peachtree Center Ave Atlanta, GA THE COMPANY Portman Holdings, LLC is a real estate development, investment and management company with an international presence and a rich history of developing premier projects that spans five decades and three continents. THE ROLE The Intern-Staff Accountant works directly with Assistant Controller of Operating Properties and will be responsible for providing general accounting support to the accounting department. Specific to this role, the Intern Staff Accountant will:
- Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate month end balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement that reconcile and balance with the general ledger detail.
- Assist with ensuring accurate and timely recording of monthly transactions through the preparation and recording of journal entries.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations for all the balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare bank reconciliations for multiple checking accounts and reconcile said accounts to the general ledger.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and/or analysis as requested by management or other departments.
- Assist with weekly check run by ensuring cash is updated daily.
- Assist with comparing monthly actual results to budget and prepare variance analysis explaining material differences.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Assist with maintaining fixed asset records for new additions.
- Assist with maintaining joint venture partners' capital accounts.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
- Prepares interim and annual audit documents by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
- Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time on short notice.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and monthly budget reforecast.
Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or removed at the discretion of management.
THE PERSON The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with the ability to foster good working relationships at every level of the company, work to develop excellent work ethic with the capacity to meet deadlines and maintain excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. Specific requirements the successful candidate will have include:
- Actively pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Expected graduation date 2024 or 2025.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills, including intermediate use of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Work requires continual attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to deal with multiple competing tasks and demands
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
