The Internal Audit Unit assists the California Department of Industrial Relations' (DIR) administration and management by providing objective assurance whether assets are safeguarded, operating efficiency and effectiveness is promoted, compliance with applicable laws and regulations is maintained, and financial and management reporting is reliable.

Under the direction of the Senior Management Auditor, the Associate Management Auditor (AMA) independently conducts difficult and complex audit assignments. Assignments include but are not limited to: financial audits, operational/performance audits, information technology audits, and mandated audits to be performed by the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). Additionally, the AMA may be assigned projects including but not limited to: federal grant monitoring, consulting engagements, and compliance reviews. The AMA assists other internal auditors within DIR on the more complex audit assignments and serves as lead on the less complex audits.

Working Conditions

This position is located at:

1750 Howe Avenue
Sacramento, CA 95825

This location offers free parking and is located across the street from the Arden Howe Plaza, which provides many shopping and dining establishments. There are several places to eat within walking distance or a short drive away, including Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, Habit Burgerl, In N Out, Olive Garden, Jamba Juice, Stabucks, and many more! Feel like shopping on your lunch break? Walgreens, the Container Store, Nordstrom Rack and Homegoods are a block away!

The incumbent will work in a cubicle with natural and artificial lighting in an air-conditioned office building with elevator access. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer as necessary for email communication, research, working on audits, and other purposes.This remote-centered position offers flexible work schedule opportunities.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Knowledge and familiarity with internal auditing standards, and other procedures used in performing financial and performance reviews of government programs
• Knowledge of Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards – 2 CFR Part 200
• Knowledge of contracting laws, regulations, and practices
• Knowledge of invoicing and billing systems and practices
• Excellent organization, time management, customer service, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with audit management software and the Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to analyze large data sets
• Ability to make sound decisions, work under changing priorities and on multiple tasks with short deadlines

Preference will be given to persons with State Restriction of Appointments (SROA) or Surplus status. Applicants must attach a copy of their most recently dated letter that specifies their designation as either SROA or surplus candidate as proof.
