Join our team at the Marion County Senior Citizens Center as a part-time Non-emergency Medical Transportation Driver and safely transport seniors to non-emergency medical appointments in organization-owned vehicles!

Position Type

  • Part-Time / Casual (as needed)
  • Works as needed (generally, Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
  • Great for retirees, caregivers, or anyone seeking supplemental income
  • Non-exempt Hourly
  • Wage Range $11 - $13 /hour
  • Reports to the Transportation Coordinator

Purpose

Under minimal guidance, the Non-Emergency Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting senior citizens to and from non-emergency medical appointments. This role requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to providing excellent service to older adults, including those with mobility challenges.

Essential Job Duties

  • Safely operate agency vehicles to transport seniors to designated locations.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including use of mobility aids (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs).
  • Ensure passengers are safely secured before transport.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs and documentation.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety checks and report maintenance needs.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, caregivers, and center staff.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and agency policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of assigned vehicle.

Additional Duties

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Executive Director.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or above.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (e.g., assisting with mobility devices). 
  • Visual and auditory acuity must be sufficient to safely operate a vehicle and interact with passengers.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in a vehicle and occasionally outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • May involve exposure to traffic and road hazards.
  • Interaction with elderly individuals who may have physical or cognitive impairments.

 Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities preferred. Knowledge of local roads and medical facilities is a plus.

License, Certificate Or Registration

Valid West Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
