Role Overview

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and trustworthy contracted Part‑Time Bookkeeper to manage essential financial operations. Reporting to leadership, you'll handle day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks, support payroll cycles, maintain vendor and customer records, and help us keep our financial operations precise and efficient. Please be located within an hour from the Portland Maine area as we have occasional review meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile general ledger transactions, vendor bills, and invoices
• Process payroll and generate related reports
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and vendor accounts
• Monitor and assist with cash flow and budget tracking
• Prepare routine financial statements for review
• Support monthly closing processes
• Assist with tax document preparation and liaise with accountants as needed
• Collaborate on process improvements and accounting workflows

Requirements

• Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting (2+ years preferred)
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or Desktop; Microsoft Office skills
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
• Comfortable with both in‑office and remote work (hybrid arrangement)
• Bonus: Prior experience in or familiarity with IT, hosting, or tech industry environments

Schedule & Location

• Part‑time, approximately 15–20 hours per week
• Hybrid, combining limited in‑person meetings with the owners though of the work is remote
• Flexible scheduling preferred, though some consistency is appreciated
