Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the implementation and integration of third-party applications as part of an Epic EHR implementation program. You will play a key role in coordinating activities across various teams, ensuring clear communication, and supporting the overall success of the project. This position reports to the EHR Program Management Office.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the EHR Program Director, PMO Manager, Application Manager, and other project managers to ensure smooth coordination of project activities.
Assist with the development of business cases for approval by the Information Technology Board and Governance (ITGB).
Facilitate communication and coordination between NCDHHS, the Office of the State CIO, and other relevant stakeholders.
Leverage your expertise in Health Information Technology (HIT) projects, with a focus on clinical information systems and healthcare application interoperability.
Apply a strong understanding of PMI standards for project management, and utilize both Waterfall and Agile methodologies as needed.
Develop and maintain project plans using state and NCDHHS IT project management methodologies; proficiency with Microsoft Project and MS SharePoint is required.
Manage the scope, schedule, and quality of the project within your assigned application areas.
Ensure a deep understanding of IT project management, budgeting, QA methodologies, and processes.
Guide and support team members by providing direction on project issues, success factors, and lessons learned.
Set clear expectations for team members and organize resources effectively.
Identify and manage project issues and risks, ensuring appropriate resolution and mitigation strategies.
Develop and maintain project plans and related artifacts, including budgets and schedules.
Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, vendor staff, and implementation teams.
Maintain regular communication with Epic and vendor representatives, participating in weekly project meetings.
Work with Epic, vendor staff, and end users to ensure the system meets business needs.
Participate in training coordination and support end-user testing.
Collaborate on workflow design, system builds, testing, and technical analysis of vendor applications.
Provide ongoing project status updates to leadership, identifying key milestones, budget concerns, and issues.
Prepare and present reports for executive review, ensuring effective communication of project status and deliverables.
Utilize strong conflict resolution, problem-solving, and organizational skills to support project success.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years of experience with Epic implementation or operations support.
5+ years of experience in Health Information Technology (HIT) projects, focusing on clinical information systems and healthcare application interoperability.
5+ years of experience developing and maintaining project plans using state and client IT project management methodologies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project and MS SharePoint.
Strong knowledge of PMI project management standards, with experience in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies being highly preferred.
