Job Title: Property Accountant

Location: St. Paul, MN - This role offers Hybrid flexibility but all applicants must work on site weekly - only local candidates will be considered)

Pay Rate: $65,000–$75,000/ year

Addison Group is excited to be supporting a well-established real estate organization is looking to add a Property Accountant to their team. This person will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties—ensuring accurate reporting, clean month-end closes, and strong financial oversight. Responsibilities include:

• Handle monthly and quarterly closes: prepare journal entries, reconcile cash, and finalize property-level financials
• Process incoming tenant payments, maintain receivables, and generate monthly statements with backup documentation
• Review and approve vendor invoices across assigned properties to ensure accuracy and timely payment
• Reconcile all bank accounts and confirm accurate cash balances for each property
• Ensure lease data is up to date and accurately reflected in accounting and reporting systems
• Partner with internal teams to maintain and update property budgets and forecasts
• Analyze income statements and balance sheets by property to verify accuracy and flag unexpected variances
• Support financial reporting for ownership groups and third-party stakeholders
• Oversee the daily accounting workflow across multiple properties, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded
• Maintain proper general ledger coding and documentation for all transactions and journal entries

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of accounting experience in real estate, property management, or a related industry
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with month-end and quarter-end close processes
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)
• Experience with property accounting software (Yardi, MRI, etc.)
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple property files concurrently
