Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to join our team. The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all employees by implementing safety programs, monitoring compliance, and providing training. This role requires a proactive individual who is passionate about fostering a culture of safety and is committed to continuous improvement of workplace conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of job sites, equipment, and work practices.
  • Lead safety meetings and training sessions to educate employees on safety protocols, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, training logs, and safety inspection checklists.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and promote safety initiatives and recommend improvements for a safer work environment.
  • Ensure all employees have proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and provide guidance on its correct usage.
  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a PLUS 
  • 3+ years of experience in safety management, preferably in construction or asphalt industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and risk management practices.
  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, CSP, CHST) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk or stand for extended periods.
