About the Team:
Obsidian Security is looking for a talented Visual and Interaction-focused designer who will take the lead on evolving the look and feel of Obsidian's User Interface.
We're looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of creating and implementing striking but functional visual styles across UIs and design systems with attention to detail across interaction, animation, and visual design. There’s a good chance you’ve got an illustration background and enjoy icon & logo design. You don't have to be able to code, but a good understanding of the nuances of implementing designs in HTML/CSS, SVG & canvas is a must. Experience in cybersecurity is not needed, but we will strongly prefer candidates with experience building UIs for professional tools rather than purely consumer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define visual direction and lead implementation of Obsidian’s design system.
- Work closely with UX Designers, engineers, and PMs to ensure design work effectively supports user aims in complex expert interfaces.
- Spec out and collaborate on the implementation of interaction patterns and animation to develop high-quality, intuitive solutions to design problems.
- Work closely with our engineering team to ensure high-quality implementations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of significant demonstrable experience creating and implementing visual direction, interaction design, and animation for web or app-based products.
- Experience working with and managing design systems
- An outstanding portfolio that showcases your foundation in product design & creativity and highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions, as well as demonstrating your design process and priorities.
- Exceptional design skills with an insistence on quality and design-for-impact.
- Experience with enterprise and SaaS UX design patterns and challenges, or similar expert interfaces
- Experience working in a high-velocity agile environment, from ideation and prototyping to testing.
- Experience collaborating closely with product managers, product designers, and engineers to create experiences and patterns at scale.
- Excellent communication skills and clearly articulating the rationale behind your design decisions.
- Experience implementing UI design systems in an iterative software development environment.
- Familiarity & empathy for accessible design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity or experience with the cybersecurity industry
- Some familiarity and interest in design for data visualization.

Pay Transparancy
Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for equity awards and may be eligible for incentive compensation based on factors such as experience, skills, and location.
