Buds Gun Shop is a leading firearms retailer in the United States, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. It is a consumer services company that has been operational for over 19 years, serving gun enthusiasts all over the country with high quality firearms, ammunition, and accessories.

Role Description

We are seeking experienced Web Developers to help us build and maintain a novel e-commerce website platform for large-scale commercial firearms retail. You will be working with a small team of dedicated professionals who are interested in using state-of-the-art methods for developing data-driven solutions with the challenge of doing so at the scale of a large retail operation. Both front and back-end developers are encouraged to apply. Front-end developers will be tasked with implementing a responsive, mobile-first design with an emphasis on user experience. Back-end developers will be responsible for building low-latency database and server-side technologies capable of handling large-scale e-commerce web traffic. Full-stack developers are also encouraged to apply - your skills will be utilized for both front and back end development.

Employees are expected to work in the office starting at two days per week. Full remote options may be available based upon performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the front-end and / or back-end of a novel e-commerce platform.
  • Collaborate with team members to design a mobile-first, responsive, and user friendly website.
  • (Front-end) Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • (Back-end) Optimize the website for speed and scalability.
  • Develop and incorporate data-driven functionality into the website.
  • Work as a team and be involved in team-related activities such as code reviews and project maintenance.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and apply them in daily operations and activities.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Good problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • (Front-end) Experience working with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • (Back-end) Experience with database technology such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Gitlab, Git).
  • Proven experience in web development or similar programming based role.
  • Python programming experience.

Bonus Experience

  • (Front-end) Familiarity with front-end libraries / frameworks such as React or Vue.js.
  • (Back-end) Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps pipelines.
  • (Back-end) Familiarity with Python back-end frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, etc.
  • Any business or e-commerce related past experience, such as Magento or Wordpress CMS.
